Chest Disease Hospital was established first in the year 1966 named as TB Hospital with 100 beds. Afterwords TB Hospital is renamed as a specialized Hospital " Chest Disease Hospital, Rajshahi(CDHR) in the year 1998 with 150 beds. It is situated in Laxmipur of Rajshahi City Corporation area near paramedical institute within Rajpara thana. CDHR provides both out door and indoor services to the patients by 9 experienced doctors . Out door service begins at 8 AM and ends at 2.30 PM. After closing of out door services only admitted patients receive emergency services by the doctors .Both PTB and EPTB patients get treatment in this hospital. Other than TB resiratory diseases like COPD, Bronchiectasis,Br.asthma, Chr.bronchitis, ILD etc are also treated here in some occasions. All the patients get their diet, TB drugs and other required medicines free of cost. CDHR has its speciality to have a new laboratory "Regional Tuberculosis Reference Laboratory" (RTRL) inaugarated in year 2008 to diagnose MDR TB. Sputum Culture and DST is available here. In addition to this gene xpert mechine has been set up in 2013 for rapid diagnosis of MDR TB within two hours. All MDR Patients of Rajshahi Division are treated in this hospital with 9 months regimen free of cost. Also a high power digital x-ray mechine(1000 mm) has been set-up in this hospital for the diagnosis of TB patients as well as other non- TB cases.
