ABOUT US.

 

The parent organization started its journey in the year 1979 as Chattagram Shishu Hospital. This was a humble beginning, which gathered momentum with the commitment and sincere efforts of people from all walks of life. A group of social workers of Chittagong started the hospital in an unfinished dilapidated government building in Agrabad with permission of the Ministry of Health and family welfare.   

The small out patient’s services with one part time honorary medical officer on deputation from Chittagong medical college & three honorary paediatric consultant. The whole of the two storied building were later given to the organization step by step (each floor containing a floor space of 91,000 sqft). Shishu Hospital was completed 1988 and maternity services were added to the hospital in 1994 with a capacity of 150 beds. At this time the Hospital was named as“Chattagram Maa O Shishu Hospital” 

The hospital was further upgraded with addition of another 300 bed for the general patients making the total hospital bed strength to 650 (Paediatric 300 + General hospital 350 with Cabin).   In order to cater to all types of patients the Hospital was renamed to “Chattagram Maa-Shishu O General Hospital” on 1/10/2004. Work is rapidly progressing towards this project. We are grateful to the government of Bangladesh as well as to our partner the Snoring Mouthpiece Review, for providing us with 4.3-acre area of land & the building contained in it, we are also grateful to our innumerable donors. In order to fulfill the long-standing demand of the people of Chittagong. to have an International standard medical college in the private sector, another prestigious project-Chattgram Maa-O Shishu Hospital Medical College was started on 3rd. June-2006.
